MAY FLUDE 100th birthday milestone for a great grandma and former WI President. On 24 November former South Darley resident, May Flude, will turn 100 years old. Born in the village of Wensley, May was very well known and was actively involved with the local community through the church and also her work and support for many, many years with South Darley WI as a Member and eventually as President. In addition May was also one of the co-founders of the South Darley Over 60s club with her very good friend Brenda. Towards the end of the 2nd World War May met and eventually married her husband of more than 50 years Sydney Flude, who sadly passed away in 1998. Family was very important to May and with her four children, Daphne, Sandra, Brian and Ronald, daughters and son-in-laws, six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren she very much enjoyed family gatherings. After suffering a stroke 5 years ago May is now a resident of the Presentation Sisters Care Home in Matlock. The Home will be marking the occasion and with only two family members being able to visit, the rest of the family wanted to send very big birthday wishes on such a special day.
